The Golden Isles Soccer Association believes in juggling as a way for a player to develop the proper, "Soccer Touch." Juggling is one thing you can do almost anywhere and all you need is your ball. Juggling not only imporves a player’s first touch, but it also increases ability to strike the ball with laces/inside of the foot, balance coordination, over all ability to sense and control different parts of the boady at the same time, fitness, and most importantly focus. It is also a component of our core curriculum and we expect every player to reach certain levels of success with juggling.

In our effort to promote our players juggling we have created the Golden Isles Soccer Association Juggling Club. GISA’s Juggling Club is free for anyone of GISA’s select team players to attend. It will be held at the Jekyll Soccer Complex on Thursdays from 5-5:25pm at Fields 3 & 4.

The fall Juggling Club dates are on Thursdays Sept. 22, 29, Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 & Nov. 3.

GISA Goal Keeper Training offered during the Fall 2011 season

Come and join GISA staff Coach Podlesny for Goal Keeper Training on Tuesday Evenings at the Jekyll Island Soccer Complex. Coach Podlesny has been the Assistant Girls Coach at Glynn Academy for 8 years, the Assistant Boys Coach at Frederica for 11 years and the Head Girls Coach at Frederica for 5 years. His Girls teams at Frederica won 2 Region Titles, while making 5 State Tournament appearances. His teams also reached the Final Four for Four out of Five years. Coach Podlesny has coached in the GISA for seven years. He currently holds the NSCAA State, Regional Goalkeeping diplomas and the National Diploma. In addition, he is NFHS certified. Coach Podlesny played and graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.

The goal keeper training will be held on Tuesday’s at the Jekyll Soccer Complex on Field 3. The times and dates for the different age groups are listed below.

U12 and younger GK training will be offered every other week from 5:15-6:15pm. The remaining dates are: Sept. 27, Oct. 11, and 24.

U13 and older GK training will be offered every week from 5:30-6:30pm on: Oct. 4, 18, 25 & Nov. 1 & 8. GK training will be offered from 6:15-7:15pm on Sept. 27, Oct. 10, 24.

It is a must that players reserve there spot with Ike before the training date so that he knows how many players will be attending, what their age and what team they play on.

Welcome to Golden Isles Soccer

Whether you have a 5-year old just starting out or a high school standout, Golden Isles Soccer at Jekyll Island has a program for your famly.

Inhouse Academy: Recreational soccer for ages 4 through 12 with games exclusively at the Jekyll Island Complex primarily on Saturday mornings. Most divisions are age and gender specific.

Travel Programs: Our travel teams play primarily in the North Florida Youth Soccer League in Jacksonville, Savannah Rec League, or compete through Georgia Youth Soccer Association. There are three levels of travel teams:

Academy: An introduction to more competitive soccer for our U9-U12 players.

Recreation: There are no tryouts and everyone makes a team

Select: U13-U19 teams created through a competitve tryout process.

The club also hosts the very best players and teams from the entire Southeast (Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning) for Region III Premier competition. Come spend an afternoon watching these extraordinarily talented U14-U19 players.

The club also hosts multiple tournaments ranging from 3v3 to adult full-sided competition on our beautifully maintained fields. Bring your team to one of these events to see for yourself why Jekyll Island is one of the best soccer complexes in the Southeast.
