The Golden Isles Soccer Association believes in juggling as a way for a player to develop the proper, "soccer touch." Juggling is one thing you can do almost anywhere and all you need is your ball. Juggling not only improves a player’s first touch but it also increases ability to strike the ball with laces/inside of the foot, balance, coordination, over all ability to sense and control different parts of the body at the same time, fitness, and most importantly focus. It is also a component of our core curriculum and we expect every player to reach certain levels of success with juggling.
In our effort to promote our players juggling we have created the Golden Isles Soccer Association Juggling Club. GISA’s Juggling Club is free to anyone of GISA’s select team players to attend. It will be held at the Jekyll Island Soccer Complex on Thursdays from 5-5:25pm at Fields 3 & 4. The fall Juggling Club dates are Sept. 22, 29, Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27, & Nov. 3.
It takes many hours of practice to reach the highest levels. The dedication to the craft of juggling is vital to the becoming an expert. Advanced juggling skills assist with becoming a better soccer player; therefore, juggling is an important aspect of Golden Isles United.
Clicking the Juggling Club tab to the left will show you the level each participant in our program has reached.
All players that achieve level 1 standards will be rewarded with a juggling club T-shirt and recognition within the Juggling Club Records.
Why Juggle?
A player’s touch is vital in soccer and the reason that juggling can significantly improve your game is that it helps to develop your touch on the ball. If you can juggle the ball consistently, you are more likely to be able to consistently control the ball in the game. It also shows you are in control of the ball and it is not controlling you. It’s a great way for you to learn how the ball reacts to different touches and surfaces. Juggling can also improve your confidence on the ball not to mention, it is fun!
When to Juggle
The coolest thing about juggling is that you can do it almost anywhere and all it takes is YOU and YOUR BALL!! Just make sure there are no important breakables around (windows etc). The most effective way to achieving your juggling goals is to PRACTICE ON YOUR OWN! Beating your score and competing against yourself are important keys to improving your game and becoming the best player you can be. Juggling a soccer ball with feet, thighs or head is an excellent activity for players of all levels. It’s not only a good activity for using your spare time but it can also become a very good work out.
Juggling Club Procedure
Player’s have to attend the Juggling Club, at which time GISA staff coaches will test the player on the criteria listed in each level. Upon completion of a juggling skill players will be allowed to be tested on the next skill in the order as they are on the juggling chart. The juggling chart will be updated in the end of each month.
We will also keep track of each player’s personal record and will note it on the website when it exceeds the Juggling Club standards per the player’s age group. Players who complete level 1 will receive a GISA Juggling Club Tee-Shirt in recognition of this feat and can move on to level 2.
